CHRISTIAN CEREMONY #1

MINISTER: Marriage is an institution of divine appointment and is commended as Honorable among all men. It is the most important step in life, and should not therefore be entered into unadvisedly or lightly, but discreetly and soberly.

In this state, these two persons come now to be joined. If any person present can show just cause, why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now speak or less hereafter forever hold their peace.

I solemnly require and charge you both, to have joy and peace in the marriage state, if either of you know any just cause why you may not be lawfully joined together in matrimony, you do now confess it.

(Couple joins right hands)

MINISTER: (to groom) Do you, sir, take this woman to be your lawful wife and do you promise before god and these witnesses, to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others keep thee only unto her so long as you both shall live?

GROOM:  “I DO”

MINISTER: (to bride) Do you, sir, take this man to be your lawful husband and do you promise before god and these witnesses, to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others keep thee only unto him so long as you both shall live?

BRIDE:  “I DO”

(If the parties wish to use the ring, the minister shall instruct the man to place the right hand and hold as he repeats after the minister)

With this ring I thee Wed!

MINISTER: In as much as this man and this woman have in the presence of god and these witnesses consented together to be joined in the lawful bonds of matrimony and there to have given and pledged their love for each to the other (and if a ring is used: have declared the same by giving and receiving a ring), I now according to the ordinances of god and in the name of the state of New Mexico, I now pronounce you Husband and Wife.

What therefore god has joined together let no man put asunder”.

Now may God of peace prosper and bless you in this new relation, and may the grace of Jesus Christ abound unto you now and always. AMEN>

You are now Husband and Wife!

You may kiss the bride.

CHRISTIAN CEREMONY #2

Minister:  We are together at this place and at this time to celebrate with Groom’s Name and Bride’s Name the completeness of their love. The book of faith, by which we as believers in Jesus Christ live, tells us that marriage is an honored event. For the reason of love a man and woman shall leave a home of their birth to share in love and trust a home of their own. Paul tells us there are many events and different feelings in life. Three are eternal: faith, hope, and love. But love, the love that is God and from God, is the greatest of them all. Without the love of God we would be empty people and lack the power of face life and its problems. Nor would we have any real hope for tomorrow.

Prayer:

Minister: Let us pray. Lord our God, source of all blessing, in happiness and joy we thank you for the gift of marriage, which we celebrate today. May you give Groom and Bride the ability to rejoice always in their love? May you fulfill every worthy mystery of the love they hold for each other, every day as today. And may their life together embrace and nurture the promise of this moment so that all who know them will call them truly blessed. AMEN!

Love is a word that contains do much impact, we are often hard put to define it. Someone said love wants to give, and because it does, its prime goal is to make the other person happy. It is a desire to please the partner. It is the passionate and abiding desire on the part of two persons to produce together and yet spontaneously express their individuality in the context of marriage. Love is the soil and climate in which each can flourish, far superior to what either could achieve none have achieved the beauty and majesty of the apostle Paul’s soaring description of God’s kind of love found in 1 Corinthians:

If I speck with tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have a gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly: it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

But now abide faith, hope, love these three; but the greatest of these is love.

The kind of homes we need most are those where two lives are being drawn together by a holy love greater than their own. If your commitment has these dimensions, love goes forever. Believing that the home you wish to establish is founded on that kind of love, love of God, it is my privilege to ask:

Who gives this woman to be married to this man? (Response by father, family member: I do.)

Minister: Will you please face each other and join hands.

Groom’s Name, would you repeat after me: I Groom’s Name, take you, Bride’s Name, to be my wedded wife. To have and to hold from this day. To care for and to encourage in both good times and bad.  I promise to live for Christ and with you in the full awareness of trust and love, and with this commitment, I pledge to you my love.

Bride’s Name, would you repeat after me:   I Bride’s Name take you, Groom’s Name, to be my wedded husband. To have and to hold from this day. To care for and to encourage in both good times and bad. I promise to live for Christ and with you in the full awareness of trust and love, and with this commitment, I pledge to you my love.

 Ring Service:

These rings are symbols of your commitment of love.

They are made of gold, expressing the purity which should always be in your marriage. They are formed in circles, expressing the unending dimension of your love and eternal love of god. Share these rings now in the full awareness of Christ’s love in you and through you.

Groom’s Name would you place this ring on Bride’s Name finger? Would you hold it there and repeat after me:

Bride’s Name, I give this ring, as a visible token of my love, and I give it to you as my own life.

Bride’s Name would you place this ring on Groom’s Name finger? Would you hold it there and repeat after me:

Groom’s Name, I give this ring, as a visible token of my love, and I give it to you as my own life.

Minister: Let us pray: O Lord, thou art love, Bride and Groom’s Names bring their earthly love to thee. Teach them to know thy loving way that their love may be like thine. As their love grows in your image, grant them the grace, wisdom and compassion to show other thy love. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the highest expression of your love for us. AMEN.

Having spoken words of testimony and commitment as to your love, one for the other, I, by the authority of this state and by the commission of God and Christ as a minister of the gospel, declare and proclaim that you Groom’s Name and you, Bride’s Name, are husband and wife. What God has joined together in this love, let no man ever attempt to break or destroy. For no one hates his own body, but lovingly cares for it just as Christ cares for this body the church of which we are part.

God Bless you.

You are now Husband and Wife!

You may kiss your bride!

CHRISTIAN CEREMONY #3

Good Afternoon, it gives me great pleasure to be here today to celebrate the union of these two people in love.

Who allows these two people, to be joined in holy matrimony?

WE DO! (Parents)

 Minister:

Let us pray.

O gracious and ever living God, you have created us male and female in your image: Look mercifully upon this man and this woman who come to you seeking your blessing, and assist them with your grace. That through your light they will honor and keep the promises and vows they make; through Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with us in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Amen

Love is a word that contains so much impact; we are often hard put to define it.

The apostle Paul gives a soaring description of God's kind of love in 1st Corinthians.  It states:  Love is patient; love is kind, it is not jealous. It does not brag and is not arrogant. Love does not act unbecomingly or seek its own, it is not provoked and does not take into account a wrong suffered. It does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

Love gives freely without conditions and because it does, its primary goal is to make the other person happy. It is the desire to embrace and cherish one another, welcoming individuality and support. Love is the soil and climate in which each can flourish and is one of the greatest blessings two people can attain.

CEREMONY OF THE RINGS

MINISTER: Traditionally, the marking- of the passage to title status of husband and wife is marked by the exchange of rings. These rings are a symbol of the unbroken circle of love. Love freely given has no beginning or no end, no giver, and no receiver for each is the giver, and each is the receiver. May these rings always remind you of the vows you are about to take.

 VOWS

MINISTER: Victor, will you take this woman to be thy wedded wife, to live together in marriage? Will you love her, comfort her, and honor her, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, so long as you both shall live?

GROOM: "I WILL"

Groom; Places ring on Bride’s finger.

MINISTER: Tamara, will you take this man to be thy wedded husband, to live together in marriage? Will you love him, comfort him, and honor him, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, so long as you both shall live?

 BRIDE: "I Will"

Bride; Places ring on Groom’s finger.

UNITY CANDLE CEREMONY

( can be replaced with another unity candle ceremony)

MINISTER: This candle is a candle of Marriage because it represents two hearts joining as one. It is a candle of Unity, because both come together, giving a spark of themselves to create a new light. It is a candle of commitment, because it take two people working together to keep it a flame. Ultimately, it is a candle of Faith, because it's flame represents the light of the Lord that lives in each of us.

As you light this candle today, may the brightness of the flame shine throughout your lives. May it give you courage and reassurance in darkness, warmth and safety in the cold, Strength and joy in your bodies, minds, and spirits.

May your union be forever blessed!!

PRONOUNCEMENT

In as much as you have consented together in this ceremony, and have sealed your vows in the presence of this company and by the giving of these rings, it gives me great pleasure to pronounce that you are now Husband and Wife.

CONGRATULATIONS, you may kiss the bride!!
